LAUREN MICHAELS IS THE GIRL YOU WANT TO WAKE UP WITH. We had the pleasure of spending some time with this familiar voice that brightens up our mornings. She is one of the most genuine people you can meet in this city. She doesn’t perpetrate being something she isn’t. The girl you hear on the radio is the girl you meet in person. Lauren is as good a listener as she is a speaker. Although her life is full of excitement and she gets to do a lot of amazing things, she is humble, grateful, and personable. She can relate to you like you’ve been friends for years and that is probably what has paved the road to her success as a radio personality. Where are you from originally?
Valencia, CA.

How long have you be n in Vegas?
It was 3 years in March!

What brought you to Las Vegas?
A chance to be on Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo and to also be part of one of the most exciting and entertaining cities in the country.

How close are you and the morning team outside of work?
You would think we would be sick of each other, but even after a long work week, we end up calling each other to grab a drink at Buffalo Wild Wings.

How did you get your start in radio?
Good luck. I was doing promotions for Radio Disney in Atlanta when I met a program director from Bakersfield, California who thought I might be funny on air. He asked me to move back to California, and the rest is history.

When did you know that you wanted to be in radio?
The minute I stepped into the ABC radio building in Atlanta, I was in love.

Do you consider your job to be your dream job?
Heck yes! It’s my dream job! Every day I wake up thinking it’s a dream. Unfortunately, the waking up happens at 3:30am. And that sucks. It sucks SUPER big time, but I wouldn’t change my life for anything.

What do you think about the Las Vegas culture?
Vegas is known for not having its own “culture”. WRONG! Being in radio I have had to move around the country. And trust me; Las Vegas is a city full of culture and people with passion. Vegas is the greatest city, and I hope they never make me leave! ;)

What do you like most about your job?
My listeners! I hate even calling them listeners because they really are like my big group of best friends. And come on, I get to do some really cool stuff. Concerts, meeting celebrities, KLUC events, movie screenings. I’m a lucky girl.

What advice do you have for someone whose dream job is being a radio DJ?
Get an education!!!! When you’re finished and you still want to pursue it, then GO FOR IT. But it’s not an easy business to be in, and it’s a lot of hard work. Starting
out at the bottom of the chain is rough, but hard work will ALWAYS pay off. If it’s your dream….GO FOR IT!

What is your bed time?
The same time your grandma goes to bed. HA! I TRY (key word is try) to be in bed by 9pm Monday- Friday.

What is the hardest thing about your job?
Staying on top of all things pop culture. You know how often I have to check perezhilton.com a day? I would say at least 20 times a day. I need to know who is
who, what’s what’s, who’s doing it with what, when and why. And then there are the days when I’m just not funny or in a bad mood. (Yes even I have bad moods.) And the show still goes on.

When you are not working, what do you like to do wi th your time?
Find new places to eat. HA! Not joking. We have so many awesome places to choose from. My fella totally got me into sushi. Have you been to WAZUZU inside
the ENCORE? I went there last night, and it was amazing! And you can ALWAYS find me at the park with my puppy Zilla aka DOGZILLA. She’s so spoiled!

How much of your time does your job require?
It gets all my time! I live my job!

What would you tel someone who is considering moving to Vegas?
Once you move here you have to STOP yelling out , “VIVA LAS VEGAS” while on The Strip. No really….stop doing that!

What other avenues would you like to explore?
I would would love to switch places with Ryan Seacrest and be doing radio and television. It’s going to happen….watch out!
